Security requirements Part 4 of the Cannabis Regulations
We will write up the following for submission with the license application documents:
- Security review report which will demonstrate to Health Canada that the site meets all security standards. To ensure all requirements and standards have been addressed, the report format will quote each section within Part 5 of the Physical Security Measures Guide for Cannabis, the section of the Act it applies to and a full description as to how the client will meet these regulations and standards.
- Assisting in the drafting and constructing the Site Organisational Chart, (part of the Organisational Security Plan) which shows the management relationships and control of activities such as standard operating procedures (SOPs), sensitive security information, financial controls, and contracts for goods and services all for filing under the CTLS.
- Technical specifications for the security systems to be installed.
- Supervision and assisting the Applicant in obtaining personnel security clearances in support of the License application for filing under the CTLS.
We will also assist with the technical advice during the build out to ensure that the security equipment and technology is commissioned ready for the Health Canada evidence package/video walk through.
After selecting your operating systems, it is now time to assemble your construction team and to work out what you can afford to build. This team will comprise a project manager (usually a civil engineer), structural engineer, mechanical engineer and an electrical engineer. In conjunction with the construction team is the licensing consultant who will advise the team on Health Canada’s criteria to ensure the building is compliant with the Cannabis Regulations. Naturally if you have sufficient capital for the full build out you will still need to assemble your construction team to prepare the floor plan and begin the build out.
Important Note: Please note where that for all micro licensees who intend to amend their license into standard cultivation licenses (more than 2150 sq. ft canopy) it will be necessary comply with the requirements of a standard license in the initial micro license build out.
The Physical Security Measures Guide for Cannabis (Section 5) details all the security information Health Canada requires to be included in the security portion of a client’s application. For this reason, the “Guide” will be used as the report template to ensure all Health Canada information has been included and as well, make an easy read for Health Canada reviewers. Each section includes specific information and details which must be included, in order to be compliant with the applicable sections of the Cannabis Regulations. Namely:
